Materials & Finishing

I prefer to use premium engineered plywoods for the wood finishes, as it is more sustainable, using fewer trees for their beauty.

  • Woods: Cherry, White Oak, Mahogany, Walnut, Sapele, Leopardwood, and more 
  •  Acrylics: Frosted, smoked, textured, glass look, and more
  • Select metals: Brass, copper, pewter, magnetic closures
  • Finishes: Unfinished ready to stain, natural oils/waxes, archival lacquers, protective clear varnish
  • Diffusers: Vellum, Japanese cloud dragon paper, mulberry paper, and custom selected options

Timing & Pricing

Most small projects complete in 1–3 weeks after approval; larger pieces 3–12 weeks.

Design Integrity

  • Each piece I design is original, drawing on a lifetime of research and inspiration from many sources. My time and craft are my livelihood.
  • Client-supplied artwork must be your own or fully licensed for use (proof of rights required).
  • Lanterns are intended for LED lighting unless otherwise noted.
  • Packing materials are eco-friendly and recyclable, including water-soluble fill, 100% recycled cardboard, and water- and algae-based inks.
  • Engineered wood panels use formaldehyde-free adhesives, made in the USA at a multi-generation family mill.
